Adding Modifiers to Products
This tutorial will show you how to set modifiers for certain products in Ebmbook EPOS
- Settings screen: To set up product modifiers, you’ll need to access the Settings screen. Do this by clicking the four white squares on the top left of the screen. This will result in the drop-down menu and from there, click on Settings. Next, click on the ‘Products & Modifiers‘ section of the Settings screen.
- Creating modifiers: In the Manage Product Modifiers screen, click on the ‘New Modifier Group‘ button at the top right of the screen:
You’ll get the Add New Modifier Group window. In this case, I am going to add modifiers for a 9″ ‘create-your-own pizza’ product. The modifier group will be called ‘Pizza Toppings (9″)‘.
After naming the modifier group, I proceed to adding each modifier by first clicking ‘Add Row‘ and repeating the process for each topping. As mentioned before, the modifiers here are pizza toppings and the price coincides with the type of modifier. Because this is a ‘create-your-own 9″ pizza’ product, I make sure each additional topping is 50p. You can delete an entry by clicking the red ‘Delete‘ button in each row.
To save your changes, click the blue ‘Save Changes‘ button to save your modifiers. The red ‘Delete Group‘ button will remove the group from the database entirely.
A green message will pop up to inform you that the modifier group has successfully been added. You’ll see the group in the list, including the number of total modifiers attributed to it.
- Applying modifiers: Return to the Sell Screen by clicking the top left icon in Ebmbook and selecting it from the drop-down menu.
Next, click the category with the product that you want to use the modifier on. Here, I selected RandPizza (an example in-house pizza brand for the Randcorp business) and clicked the ‘Create Your Own (9″)‘ pizza product, which was added to the selling menu on the right of the screen.
Click the ‘Manage item modifier‘ button in the row underneath the product’s name and price. It’s a square with a pencil cutting through it.
The Item Modifier Window will pop up, listing the modifiers that were created earlier. Click each modifier you would like to add to the order (you’ll see a tick), click on it again to deselect it. The price will increase depending on how many modifiers you’ve clicked. Once you’ve finished, click the red cross on the top right of the window to close it.
The modifiers will appear in the order. Click the ‘Manage item modifier‘ button again if you want to remove the modifiers from the order or add more. Notice that the total price has increased down below, this is because of the modifiers’ individual prices (50p per topping).
You can now proceed to process the payment as normal.
A reminder: This tutorial is written with the notion that you’re accessing the Ebmbook software through a PC or laptop. If you are using a touchscreen terminal, tablet or smartphone, the same directions apply but with your finger instead of the mouse.
